Relationships : two books to master them

Brand new blog here ! I hope you like the new design and color !

I’m here today to talk to you about two books :
The Mastery of Love : A Practical Guide to the Art of Relationship by Don Miguel Ruiz and The Bingo Theory by Mimi Ikonn.
These two books have a common theme : relationships, with yourself, your family, your friends, your loved on …
I think that the art of the relationships is one of the most important to master and the most difficult too. These two books give a different approach of the idea that we have about relationships with other and yourself.
I will give you a quick idea of what you are going to read in these books and my opinion on what they can offer you. I will not go too deep so I don’t influence you or tell you more than necessary.

The bingo theory

• The Bingo Theory by Mimi Ikonn

The author is Mimi Ikonn, an almost 30 years old entrepreneur, living in London. She’s from Canada and was born in Russia. She also makes video on Youtube (her channel). This book is available on Amazon (8,85€ in Kindle format and 18,94€ in hard cover).

  • What is this book about ?

The book starts with a test to determine our dominant energy. She calls them feminine and masculine. Mimi writes that we live with those two energies inside us (whether we are a woman or a man), but one dominates the other. The dominant energy is determined by a certain number of personality trait. On my side, the test revealed that my dominant energy is masculine. We talk here about energy like the Ying and the Yang. The book explains how to balance the two energies existing inside us.

What does this have to do with relationships ?

Well, the better you know yourself, the better you will know how to be and react with the other, and yourself too ! The description of your energy personality trait is global enough to identify easily to it. The descriptions are written like stories, it’s well done and you understand better how you operate. It is also interesting to go and read the part about the person you know, to understand their point of view.

In the end, this book’s ambition is to help you become the best version of yourself. Not perfect, but balanced, in peace with yourself.

  • What I think about this

I found this book very easy to read, the advice are simple, relevant and doable on a day to day basis. I found out 2 or 3 interesting things about myself. But mostly some information about the personality of some of my closed ones, that I haven’t quite understood until now !

The Mastery of Love

• The Mastery of Love : A Practical Guide to the Art of Relationship by Don Miguel Ruiz

Don’t judge this book by his title, it’s not what you think ! When Don Miguel Ruiz says “love”, he doesn’t only talk about “couples”, but also family, friendship and especially ourselves.
Wikipedia says that Don Miguel Ruiz is a “Mexicain author, shaman and teacher, born in 1952. His book “The Mastery of Self: A Toltec Guide to Personal Freedom” is a Motivational Self-Help best-seller”.

  • What is this book about ?

Like the title suggest it : the mastery of relationships. Ok, with that said, I should note that you should read that book with an open mind. You don’t have to agree with every thing written because, I found some ideas a little “extreme”. But if you just ignore some of those ideas, this book is full of common sense.
So Don Ruiz thinks that every person has experienced a deal of pain, created by our environment after we were born. For example, the pain created by fear of being left alone or rejected … Those pains are unconscious, most of the time, but it doesn’t stop them from sabotaging our relationships.
Since everyone has those pains, unconscious for most of us, we create an all plate of beliefs that harm us. This book gives a surprising point of view on relationships, our beliefs and the difficulty we have to love ourselves.

  • What I think about this

It took me some time to finish this book, because every paragraph and every sentence even, gave me some thinking to do. It really shows the importance of the love and respect that we should have to ourselves.

Have you ever read those books ? Or other in this thematique ? What do you think about it ?
